Question:

Why did you choose to write about China?

Answer:

My interest as a young reader was to find books on far away places. China was an intriguing far away place so I read everything I could about the people, the culture and customs. I fell in love with Pearl S. Buck and her stories. I read everything of hers from the library. I loved reading about the silkworm and how the silk secret was kept for years, how umbrellas and kites were first made in China; paper making, fireworks, and the three wheel cart which were invented by the Chinese. So many things to research and read, I was delighted when I was asked to write about a favorite far away place!
